I have several other speakers which I'll try out to see how they sound in comparison to the Criterions:ī) AR 3a – on the back, instead of a + and – hookup, there are three connections, labeled 1, 2 and T – and there's a bit of wire connecting the 2 and the T hookups – what do these mean?Ĭ) Wharfedale – no model number (these are kinda huge)ĭ) H. I hooked these up and they sound OK! I need to have the cartridge looked at to be sure the stylus is really OK, and the receiver could use a little work (some crackly static when I adjust the "selector" knob to FM) but all in all not too bad. Sherwood S-7100A Receiver (probably early 70's) ($30)Ī pair of Criterion'77 speakers (3-way, small cabinets) ($50) Pioneer turntable (PL 514XD - belt drive) looks to be mid-seventies, has an Audio-Technica cartridge, not sure what type it is. I haven't hooked up the rest yet (if the KC-206 is a pre-amp, then I'll still need a power amp) - but I did pick up some other used stuff at a couple of yard sales:

Update on the stereo - the CD player is jamming when I load a CD, so it's outta the picture for the moment (any suggestions on a quick fix? - I think the carriage that supports the CD was supposed to be anchored by transportation screws which weren't included )
